Blessings, dear ones. Thank you so much for joining me for the Sunrose Yoga Podcast.
Today’s class is all about being open and receptive to the BLISS that exists within and all around us! It is a level 2 class.
This class is inspired by Ganesh and the poem Blue Iris, by Mary Oliver.
We practice Ganesh mantra: Om gam ganapataye namaha.
So glad you are here.
Peace. & LOVE. Always. kelly

Episode 38– Kali Ma, Fierce in LOVE.
June 3rd, 2010 § 2 Comments
Blessings, dear Yogis.
I am so grateful to have your company on Episode 38 of the Sunrose Yoga Podcast. Today’s class is a strong level 2, into level 3 (asta vakrasana). The class lasts about 47 minutes. This episode is all about Kali-Ma, channeling our intention fiercely.
Kali-Ma
The Goddess of Time (as in, your time is up) gets somewhat of a bad rap in western culture (I think), because she is undeniably fierce: fierce in her depicted appearance and fierce in her destructive actions, but also fierce in love. Kali (which comes from the Sanskrit root Kala, meaning time) was born to overcome evil. In some stories, Kali materialized straight from the forehead of Ma-Durga (the invincible one). In other parts of India, she is believed to have sprung from Shiva’s third eye to vanquish some pretty terrible demons. Either way, Kali and Shiva are linked in their destruction. Without destruction (of delusions, of old patterns), there would be no room for new growth. How do we keep from turning that fierceness into a senseless rage? By keeping our intention in our hearts ceaselessly.
Inspirations for Practice
I wrote a little poem of sorts to bring Kali into our practice:
Goddess of Time,
Lover of Shiva,
Mover of Shiva’s Will;
You protect us, you love us, you slay our delusions.
In you, we cultivate conviction in our intention.
Protect us as we walk with you.
Kali Mantra
Om Kring Kalikaye Namaha Om.
