Parenting the grateful & joyful way.

kelly SUNROSE

I am unbelievably grateful for my daughter. Simply being a mother has stretched me in ways I never knew existed, has tired me in places I scarcely knew I had, but above all has illuminated a way of being, a way of loving that has been without parallel (for me).

That said, there are moments when I simply want things to be easy. I want my daughter to do things on my timeline. I want her to do things the way I want them done. Mostly, these moments result in frustration, because Oona is her own person, doing things her own way,ย doing thingsย the way a baby-toddler does things.

Luckily (lightly and significantly), the universe has a way of reminding me just how wonderful this is many times more often than those other moments.ย  Thank you for that, universe! breath! mindfulness!

A new favorite activity of mine (because Oona loves it so) is blowing bubbles. It feels as though I have never done this before, to see it with my child. Listening to her screeeeeech with pure delight as the sun interacts with the soap urges me to see new colors, to follow each orb on its fleeting journey, to keep making bubbles long after I think we ought to still be interested in them (we are! we are!). Oh I hope you try it too. The bubble meditation!

OM.
